After the raging success of the first 3 releases Sub Slayers chief rocka,
Jay Cunning, is proud to present to you another 4 track monster EP from Jersey Bad Boys Schema. Proceedings kick off with the jaw dropping Rat Bastard, a tried and tested bass killa bad boy. Le Brocqout see’s Schema venturing into a dubstep-breaks crossover to devastating effect. Turn Off The Lights can only be described as an anthem, sweet vocals mixed with relentless attitude. Finally and by no means least we have Savage Henry- a tune for all the traditional dubstep heads out there.
All tunes mixed down by Pyramid’s Nicky D’Silva and mastered by Shane @ Finyl Tweek – you know what that means!

Schema consist of Mark Smith, Lee Davis, Sean Lamy and Lee Dorrington. The foursome are based in Jersey, Channel Islands. Since their formation in 2009, based on a burning desire to produce and play their own take of a Breakbeat, Dubstep and Drum & Bass infusion, they have received support from some of the biggest names in the scene.
2009 saw the guys introduced with a live appearance and guest mix on Jay Cunning’s Breakbeat Sessions show on Kiss FM. This was followed later in the summer with a monstrous D.J slot on the Breaksday stage at the mighty Glade Festival, which went down as one of the highlights of the Nu Breed hosted Sunday.

Another Sub Slayers classic in the making…

Studio Rockers are extremely proud to present the Re-Wired EP, introducing you to four exciting new producers who you will be hearing plenty more from over the coming years. Each bring their own unique flavour to this EP making this a tantalizing taster of some of the exciting things you can expect to hear from Studio Rockers in the near future.

The EP is kick-started in fine style with ‘Fire’ by Pempi ft. Jahbliss. Going straight for the jugular, Pempi reformulates classic dub foundations into a futuristic, energetic
skanker. Driving on the 4×4 pulse of the kick and the skittering percussion, he weaves in an infectious horn melody before unleashing the thundering, bouncing bassline.

Dodge Vyrus drops the monstrous ‘Wa Gwaaan’. He certainly doesn’t pull any punches, bringing the heat with a mangled, maniacal bassline that contorts and glitches with rib shaking precision. Ominous pads and mechanical whirring synths build the atmosphere and anticipation before skillfully dropping the bass.

Albert switches things up completely with his contribution, ‘Cross Eyed’. Building on the simple synth refrain, he masterfully slides a rolling 2-step beat underneath, tilting the
track into momentum. Juxtaposing a series of textures to beautiful effect.

The EP is rounded off with the monstrous ‘Karma Than Calm’ from Nuphlo. Part of the Nasha collective who have been garnering a lot of attention of late, Nuphlo draws on Indian melodies and instrumentation, fusing them with the punishing beats and weighty subs.

 Re-Wired EP by Studio Rockers

Strange Games and Funky Things is the first legitimate and longest running rare groove mix tape series in the world and described by Gilles Peterson as the best ever rare groove compilation series of all time

Label: BBE Records
Release Date: September 28, 2010

The Strange Games… series which began in the summer of 1997, represents the blueprint for modern R&B and rap music. It joins the dots between 70s soul, 80s rare groove and 90s mass market hip hop. This compilation contains a wide variety of styles of tracks, from classic dance-floor fillers as well as lesser known delights. A more accessible diggers delight if you wish with an emphasis on quality track and not just songs worth having for a two second sample.

Conceived by BBE bossman Peter Adarkwah over 14 years ago, this fifth volume is mixed by longterm BBE stalwart, one of the world’s best DJ Spinna. Featuring a much more worldly selection than its predecessors – tracks by the multi platinum selling War to Sylvia (Founder of Sugarhill Records) sit side by side with world music underground icons like C.K. Mann and Francisco Aguabella. This volume is the 5th in a series of compilations that appears to have the widest appeal of all BBE’s compilations and proves to be even better by the fact that there is a bonus mixed CD by the one and only DJ Spinna!

What do you get when you lock an ambitious Irish lad (Paul Kelly) and a Canadian female vocalist (Nina Knezevic) into a room for too long? What do I know, but this time around out came a fantastic electro duo which goes by the name of Deadbots, lucky us. In case you have not heard of this fearsome twosome yet, this duet is tearing up the club scene at an alarming rate and is just about ready to release their jaw-breaking new 12inch “Girl On Fire” on the premium label Freakz Me Out, home of far out acts such as Fukkk Offf, Cyberpunkers, Wolfgang Flür (ex KRAFTWERK) and
Tom Deluxx.

Deadbots trademark sound references from 80`s synth pop, rock, disco, hip hop and techno are once again fully displayed on the up-coming output, whose irresistible catchiness is skillfully built into this rave demon. Expect massive support by numerous imposing colleagues such as Digitalism, Hystereo, Arthur Baker, Hey Today…all fans of this grand doublet.

What we haven`t talked about yet is the impressive list of amazing remixers, which have given “Girl On Fire” their own unique flavor. Each version quite different from the next, because these producers have developed their own individual style throughout the last decade.

We are talking about former “Atari Teenage Riot” mastermind Alec Empire, the commander in charge of the German electro-punk scene which he clearly influenced like no other. Alec worked on over 100 records/remixes for acts like: “Björk”, “Rammstein”, “Mogwai”, “Einstürzende Neubauten”, “Nine Inch Nails”, Dave Grohl of “Nirvana”, “Foo Fighters” and many others. His rework of the Deadbots track might surprise you a tad bit but simply illustrates his profound knowledge of electronic music.
“Girl on Fire” goes retro acid-techno, genius!

Another German digital institution must be T.Raumschmiere, also responsible for bad ass electro-punk and the superb label Shitkatapult. His adaptation is a bit more reflective and gives this club-banger a tunefully delightful twist. Chapeau!

The rest of the list is just as impressive, be it French producer Tom Deluxx, also in charge of Just A Band, the German veteran Sharam Jey, who has been touring the globe for half a century now, the British indie-electro newcomer Baxen and another rising star from the island Hoaxx. Put it all together and you got yourself quite a bargain mate.

You better believe it or the Irish/Canadian duo Deadbots might just set the “Girl on Fire” and we don`t want that to happen, do we?!
