Foamo – Jookie by Fat! Records
Jookie represents a subtle yet decided shift away from the ‘bass in your face’ approach. Drumline percussion, marching Horns and ever-rising synths are underpinned by a growling bassline. The drop recalls Dubfire, simultaneously transporting you to the dancefloor at Space as the track becomes some kind of twisted rolling monster.
Centavo sees Foamo reworking the formula. Like L-Vis 1990 doing Fake Blood ultra-rigid programmed drums, more brass and an odd vocal provide the backdrop for a high pressure bass workout. House music at its toughest. This sounds as much at home in the depths of London as it would on a festival stage.
Only his 3rd release proper Foamo (aka Kye Gibbon) now cements himself as one of the leaders of the new guard. Having risen through the ranks, a product of the blogosphere, Jookie sees Foamo fulfil his potential and justify the countless comparisons that have been made between him and some of the finest.
Foamo celebrates the release of Jookie headlining Chew The Fat! at Cable on Saturday April 10th.
As a bonus there is a free copy of the single to everybody who buys an £8 ticket here: http://crowdsurge.com/chewthefat/
